Kanha National Park is a serene wildlife destination in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Located in the Mandla and Balaghat districts, Kanha National Park is popular for being the primary conservation ground of the endangered Barasingha (swamp deer). The species is known as the ‘Jewel of Kanha’. Apart from the Barasingha population, Kanha National Park is also enriched with vast wildlife diversity.  Leopards, Bengal tigers, sloth bears, wild dogs (dholes), and various deer species, including the chital and barking deer also can be seen during the Kanha wildlife safari.

Apart from the great diversity in wildlife and flora species, there are multiple scenic landscapes inside the national park. The officials of the forest department closely monitor the safari activities in Kanha. The Kanha jeep safaris are operated both in the core and buffer zones. All the safari zones can be accessed through the safari entry gates through which jeep are allowed to enter inside the safari zones. Tourists need to verify their safari permits and identity proofs at the time entry.

The Khatia safari entry gate is the most popular one among the 4 safari entry gates. The Khatia Gate provides access to tourists to enter the Kanha Core Zone and the Khatia Buffer Zone. Jeeps with both single seat and full vehicle options enter through the Khatia Gate and traverse across the Kanha safari zone. Jeeps are allowed through the Khatia Gate to Kanha and Khatia zone both during the morning and evening slots. Also, tourists who have booked full vehicle for Kisli, Mukki and Sarhi Core Zones can enter through the Khatia Gate both in the morning and evening slots.
