Long weekends are a boon for young corporate professionals. If you get an off day on Monday or Friday and you reside in Nagpur, then make a plan to visit Kanha National Park for a thrilling as well as a relaxing retreat. Kanha National Park is located in the state of Madhya Pradesh, which boasts a high-density tiger population. To be more exact, the forest reserve of Kanha stretches over two districts of Madhya Pradesh, Balaghat and Mandla. The residents from the neighbouring cities of these two districts have a perfect opportunity to spend a rejuvenating weekend at Kanha National Park.

How and When to Map Your Trip

Some prominent cities neighbouring Kanha National Park are Jabalpur, Seoni, Umaria, Raipur, Bilaspur and Nagpur. Reaching Kanha from all of these cities will not take more than 5 hours if travelling by your private vehicle, which makes Kanha the perfect getaway spot for weekends. Alternatively, reach Jabalpur by flight or train and then cover the rest of the distance to Kanha by road. Winters are the most suitable and comfortable season to plan a trip to Kanha. It is better to avoid the summer season as the temperature ranges between 22 - 41 and the park remains closed to visitors from the end of June to mid-October. Therefore, the months from November to March are the appropriate time to visit Kanha National Park.

A Suggested Itinerary to Tailor Your Kanha Trip

Jeep safaris in Kanha National Park are operational in both core and buffer zones. The core zones of the park are Kanha, Kisli, Mukki and Sarhi, and the buffer zones encompass  Khapa, Khatiya, Phen and Sijora.

An important fact to always consider is that jeep safaris do not guarantee the sighting of tigers. They are simply a matter of luck.
